These work. The only drawback to me, is that they are not quite as easy to install as advertised in all instances. I have an entertainment center (and 11 month old twin sons), and its design is such that the top of the cabinet is not flush all the way - it has lip about 2 inches deep. The kitchen cabinets are the same way. This makes it tough to get right on the install.
It's still easier to install than ones with screws. Worst case, you have to re-set it and screw it in, so you're ahead of the game. I got it right 1 out of the first 3 tries. The good news, my cabinet is over an inch thick of hard wood, and the magent works fine through it.
I bought more after I tried them out for a while.

I had the traditional catch-type locks on my cabinets before. When we moved recently and needed to baby-proof the new house, I decided to spend the extra money to try these. I installed them on 3 cabinets with just the adhesive. I followed the directions exactly... and viola! My toddler cannot get the doors open at all, and he is pretty strong/determined. Nor can he reach his cute little hands into the cupboards thru the gaps allowed by the old locks we had. I couldn't be happier.

we were looking for something simple, easy to install without leaving permanent marks, and most importantly of couse, keeping our 1 year old away from harmful items. this system works great for us. My wife installed them herself in about a minute each, and the adhesives are strong enough to prevent little one year old hands from opening the cabinets. Our 6 year old did manage to pull open one of the cabinets, so we will be getting another replacement set.

After discovering that our 3-year old could easily open childproof bottles, we started researching ways to lock our medicine cabinet, which is actually a etagere (over the toilet storage). This seemed like the best option since the door handles are extremely close and there's not much room on the shelves and doors to install the more typical childproof locks.
Installation was fairly easy, but other reviewers are absolutely right about it being a one-shot deal because of the kind of adhesive used on the locks. Our cabinet closes now and stays shut via a magnet, so that made installation a little tricky because the magnet sat right in the perfect place to install the lock. The first side went up fairly easy. I installed the lock set, closed the door to get the adhesive to stick on the door, thinking that they (the catch and the lock) would be perfectly aligned, but for some reason they weren't. They were off by probably a millimeter. The adhesive is extremely sticky, so there was no moving them even that 1mm it needed. The door still shuts and locks, but not as cleanly as I would like. The second door was much trickier. Had the device perfectly installed using the adhesive strip. My husband queried if I was sure our child could not open it, so I gave it a good tug, and off came the lock set: the adhesive failed. And not only did it fail, but it ripped itself so that there was absolutely no way to reapply it. The glue was stuck to the door, and I now had in my hand a lock set with no adhesive on it. So I had to revert to using the screws, which worked fine except it was a bit trickier to line up properly. If the first side was off by 1mm, the second side is off by 3mm. Shuts, but not easily. And yes I'm lazy, but I'm not playing around with the screws trying to get it perfect. It works, and that is good enough.
The key feature works great. It unlocks every time, and really is a great idea. I do find myself forgetting that I need a key and tugging on the door, so it might be a little hard to incorporate a new step into retrieving my daily meds, but it's better than the alternative of having our child get into it.
Overall, it will serve its purpose. I do feel though that for the price, it could use some design tweaks, especially to the adhesive. A 3-M style adhesive would be much better, or, even better, including several adhesive strips in the package to allow some readjusting if it doesn't work out the first time. The imperfect installation might grate on my nerves after a while, and I'm a little annoyed that the pieces don't line up great, but maybe I'm just not a carpenter. I'll probably keep it on the cabinet until it fails, but it just gets 3-stars for me because I think it's an average product, not fantastic.

if using the adhesive to stick to the door, make sure to line it up properly the first time. If you don't, it won't adhere nearly as well after that.
