We have an outlet that it seemed our baby was attracted to. When he started crawling he would immediately go over to it and try to pull on the cords. We always had our phone charger and other things plugged in there and didn't have any other place in the room to put them, so we were constantly having to steer him away from them. This protects them and yet gives us the flexibility of using them when we need to without having to remove them every time we needed to keep him from getting into them.
This product is definitely worth the money.
Works well, sturdy, but...

First of all, I did not buy this for child safety; I bought it for _ferret_ safety. My ferrets love to yank on my wires, mainly by biting on them. Sometimes they just bat at the hanging wire, but lately they've been going for the plug itself. Initially I was only going to get something like the Wiremold C210 White Cordmate II Kit to keep the wires on the walls, but I soon started looking for something to cover up the plug.
I just installed this product on my outlet 10 minutes ago. My first reaction came from the strength of the product. I imagined it wouldn't be very thick or durable, but it definitely feels weighty. The installation was easy, taking only about a minute.
My first gripe with the product is that, although the case _is_ secure over the part that mounts to the outlet, it does "wobble". Not on its own, but I barely have to touch it to make it move. For me, that means that the ferrets will notice that it's immobile and will probably try to play with it. I doubt they will be able to get it loose, but they will fuss with it.
My only other problem with the product is that the cord shortener function is a bit difficult--ie it's a bit of a pain to wrap my cords around the thing. The lamp and stereo that I have plugged into the outlet are OLD, and the cord is very old as well (of course). It's not as flexible as a newer style cord. Anyway, no big deal there.
All in all it's great and definitely worth the money.

This product was easy to install and is VERY secure. I am happy to recommend it. It does have some limitations. I don't think it would work for a heavy duty thick round cord (I'm using it with two standard lamp cords). I'm also not sure it would fit a transformer plug (big black box plug), but I think they have another product for securing transformers.

Before I installed these covers, my little guy was constantly trying to get to the outlets, which were covered with those little clear plastic covers. He was obsessed with trying to get the covers off. But once I installed the Safety 1st covers, he stays away. He's not interested at all and just walks on by. The Safety 1st cover fits all of the outlets in my house, no problem. And I like the fact that it's kind-of difficult to remove the cover - makes me feel safer that my little guy could never get it off.
