We bought three of these but were only able to use one of them. They work well once installed, my only complaint is that the locking button is hard to move. However, you need at least an inch of door on all sides of your lock for this to work. For us that meant it worked on our front door because it swings inward to the room. The other doors swing outward from the room so we can't install it there. The door jamb gets in the way. This is something to consider when buying this. If you can fit it, it works well and installs very easily.

The adhesive meant to hold this lock onto the door, is not at all strong. We have only used this product for 2 months, and already it is not sticking to the door any longer. My 18 month old is able to open the basement door due to its failure. I think it would work if people didn't actually need to use the door, but with other family members opening the door on a regular basis, it just cannot hold up. I actually wondered if it was recalled as this is totally unsafe. I do not suggest anyone buy this "lock."

we've had this installed on two doors in the house to prevent our 2.5 yr old son from getting into the garage and out the front door. you'll definitely want to do your homework to make sure this will work on your door(s) by making sure the inner diameter will work for your handle and that the gap between your handle and the edge of the door is sufficient. many people tried using this without taking this into consideration and ended up giving it a bad review. the adhesive appears to be holding well. my son was able to hang on the handle with his 34 lbs of weight and it didnt budge. so the only thing i'm hoping is that it'll come off without a lot of demolition involved. one thing to note: try not to let your 2+ year old see how you unlock it. my son saw me do it once and was actually able to fiddle with it and get it unlocked. luckily he forgot over the course of time and hasnt messed with the locking mechanism since. the mechanism does require you to push in first and then slide it so its not exactly trivial but can be discovered accidentally; this is the reason for my 4 stars instead of 5.

We have this for an outside door but i'm going to try something else. Firstly we had friends over and their teenage kids easily broke this by just pushing the door handle hard before they realised to unlock it. Secondly - you have to remember to lock it - may as well just put a really high normal lock for a couple of bucks on the door and save the money.

We have a newer home (2008), so I'm not sure if that matters or not, but these locks did NOT fit on our doors. There was not enough extra space on the door for the lock to sit comfortably and not block it from closing. I believe some of the other reviews talk about this issue as well. I would say make sure you have at least 2.5 inches between the base of your door handle and the outside edge of the door. Otherwise it's a waste of money!
